about the tutors

Lewis McNeill is Project Manager for the Urban Orchard Project and a freelance permaculture teacher. A life-long naturalist with a BSc in Aquatic Biology, he now focuses on urban, perennial food systems where building healthy, living soils is key. When not scratching around in the earth he can be found scratching vinyl as a DJ in London's hip hop scene and organising action on climate change. He's currently working on his Diploma in Applied Permaculture Design.

Jo Homan is a freelance forest gardening tutor who has been teaching on a range of horticultural topics since 2012. In 2013 she developed the first ever accredited forest garden course, Creating a Forest Garden. Jo's favourite form of soil biota has to be the surprising slime mould, closely followed by mycorrhizal fungi. Here she is talking about forest gardening and there are a few more interviews with her here. Before setting up Transition Finsbury Park and Edible Landscapes London, Jo was a primary school teacher, layout artist, print manager and childminder. She also enjoys climbing and swing dancing.
